physical location
The municipality is located along the coastal line of the East China Sea, on the North by the the Municipality of San Vicente, on the West by the vast China Sea, on the South and East by the City of Vigan, Ilocos Sur which is the capital town of the province. and also the Municipality of Bantay.

From Vigan proper, the municipality's town hall is only 2.970 kms away. It is accessible to all types of vehicles, jeepney, buses and tricycles and even rigs.

The linkage to Vigan is the provincial road. Barangays are located in a satellite type of settlement, as well as the linear type, and are connected to each other by a barangay road.

climate
PAG-ASA had classified the climate of the Municipality as the Hernandez type of climate, generally the town is arid (Type E) wherein there are more dry than the wet season. At most there are only 4 1/2 dry months to the number of wet months.
